This comes as a result of the surging demand for Nvidia’s AI chips, which has caused the company’s stock to nearly triple in value throughout 2024. With the increasing prevalence of AI technologies and their reliance on advanced chips, Nvidia’s growth shows no signs of slowing down.
Apple has introduced Apple Foundation Models (AFM), a suite of specially designed foundation models tailored for various domains, including vision, language, and audio. AFM aims to offer user-friendly and optimized foundation models for Apple developers, with features such as privacy and security measures, faster inference on Apple Silicon, and ease of deployment in apps. DuckDuckGo has introduced AI Chat, an anonymous service that provides access to popular AI chatbots like Open AI’s GPT 3.5 Turbo, Anthropic’s Claude 3 Haiku, and open-source models such as Meta Llama 3 and Mistral’s Mixtral 8x7B. The feature is free to use within daily limits and can be switched off easily. DuckDuckGo prioritizes user privacy by ensuring chats are private, anonymized, and not used for AI model training. Users can access DuckDuckGo AI Chat through various platforms like duck.ai, duckduckgo.com/chat, or by using bang shortcuts !ai and !chat. Plans for improvement include adding more chat models, integrating entry points in browsers, and potentially offering a paid plan for higher usage limits and advanced models.
Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, has announced the establishment of Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI), a new AI research lab with a primary focus on developing safe superintelligence. SSI aims to create AI models that surpass human intelligence while prioritizing safety in the rapid advancement of AI capabilities. This move comes after Sutskever’s departure from OpenAI, following a failed attempt to oust CEO Sam Altman.
